Like a Dragon! Behind-the-Scenes Series Episode #1 Showcases Executive Producer, Motion Capture & Ichiban Voice Actor

Developer RGG Studio has shared the first episode of a series where they give fans an intricate behind-the-scenes look at the development of the Like a Dragon! franchise.

This first 19-minute episode, “A Dragon Reborn,” has the series Director and Executive Producer, Masayoshi Yokoyama, share his thoughts on becoming head of this talented studio. Additionally, appreciative looks at the motion capture process used for portraying actors’ likenesses throughout the games, and the first recording session with voice actor Kazuhiro Nakaya, the protagonist of the seventh mainline game, Ichiban Kasuga, are shown.

With how much this franchise has grown in recent years, it’s quite nice to see the development team open up like this and talk to fans about the creative process and the countless facets of work that go into everything. I’m looking forward to further episodes diving deeper into various subject matters.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is the missing chapter of the series and is finally coming west. Set in 1860’s Kyo, a solemn samurai’s fight for justice stands to change the course of Japan’s history forever. Draw your blade and join the revolution in this heated historical adventure.

Gameplay includes over-the-top action with access to a handful of weaponry and combat styles, including Swordsman, Gunman, Wild Dancer, and Brawler. An optional in-game glossary supplements context to the historical basis of the people, places, and events featured within Like a Dragon: Ishin! Further, this entry aims to expand upon its 2014 Japan-exclusive predecessor with localization support, all-new content, exquisitely remastered graphics, and enhanced capabilities for modern platforms in Unreal Engine 4.

A fan translation for the series’ Japan PSP exclusive entry, Black Leopard: Like a Dragon New Chapter, is arriving later this year.
