Lifelike Action-Adventure ‘Project M’ Announced for Consoles; Unreal Engine Technology Discussed
Global developer and publisher NCSOFT appeared at the State of Unreal at GDC to introduce new Unreal Engine tools and collaborative technology. The NCSOFT chief strategy officer then appeared on stage to present their upcoming title, Project M, alongside a visually impressive trailer.
A digital human version of the company’s chief creative officer, Taekjin Kim, is presented in the trailer, guiding viewers through the title’s systems and world. This depiction of Kim was crafted with”AI technology and its advanced art and graphics technological capabilities,” with his voice made by their “AI text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis technology.” Intricate facets of a person’s vocal deliveries are translated to be as natural as possible, including accent and emotion.
He provided the following comment:
“Project M is our latest innovation, harnessing the power of cutting-edge AI and graphics technology to an unprecedented level.” She added, “With the help of Unreal Engine, we have achieved our vision for Project M with seamless integration of our foundational AI technology, resulting in breathtaking detail.”
The founder and chief executive officer of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, shared the following statement:
“We are excited to see how NCSOFT is pushing Unreal Engine 5 for Project M, and the high-fidelity digital humans they have created is truly impressive.”
This is an action-adventure game in development for unspecified consoles. Lifelike graphics are promised via advanced 3D scanning, motion capture, and VFX. The game’s world is made up of informational particles, where “players can simulate the momentarily provided time and space.” Everything else stated about the game itself is too vague or self-explanatory to form meaningful conclusions from.
