In a tweet, LEVEL-5 CEO Akihiro Hino posted a celebratory message about the 10th anniversary of the Yo-kai Watch series of games, with an image showcasing his collection of Yo-kai Watch merch and games. However, one key detail stood out in his message. I’ve provided a translation for it below:
Today marks the 10th anniversary of Yo-kai Watch. Time sure flies… Thank you for all the congratulatory tweets, and please join us today as we open the special 10th anniversary site!
We’re steadily working on the next installment which incorporates the flow of the series. There’s still some time before we can make an official announcement, but stay tuned!
Needless to say, this is great news for Yo-kai Watch fans, as up until now, IP has been pretty dormant, especially in the west, since both the latest title in the series, Yo-kai Watch 4: We Look Under the Same Sky and the school spin-off Yo-kai Gakuen Y, never left Japan. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on further details about this new game of the Yo-kai Watch series.
In case you missed it, check out our coverage of the Yo-kai Watch 10th Anniversary website, where we detail all sorts of events that will be happening in Japan to celebrate the franchise’s anniversary.
