NIS America released a new video for the Nippon Ichi Software dungeon crawling RPG Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on September 18 in North America and September 21 in Europe.
This new gameplay video gives players an overview of how they’ll approach creating new puppets to add to their party. These extra units can be individually modified to fit the player’s playstyle and brought into battle as they explore the miasma-filled labyrinth.
In Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, players assume the role of Dronya, a witch with the ability to summon puppet soldiers to do her bidding. With the help of a living book, the Tractatus de Monstrum, she will send these puppets into a dangerous labyrinth that resides below a peaceful town.

Author’s take: I enjoy getting into the weeds with character customization, and I find myself drawn towards dungeon crawlers that have this feature. However, the depth of these systems is left to be seen and it could end up turning out to be a limited system that could use some extra work. I’m interested to see how the developers approached this gameplay feature.
