During GDC 2019, Noisy Pixel had the opportunity to sit down with video game director and Zero Escape series creator Kotaro Uchikoshi to talk about his new game AI: The Somnium Files, coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC worldwide on July 25.
While we asked him questions about his upcoming game, Uchikoshi-san gave a message straight to fans of his previous works and said, “For the adventure game fans, I can guarantee that you’ll have a great time with this game.” The game’s director followed up by adding, “And for the boys out there, there are some cute and sexy scenes that you can be happy about.”
Given that there have been multiple cases in the past where “cute and sexy” imagery from Japan has been removed from the game’s western release — fans won’t have to worry about that with this title as Spike Chunsoft has confirmed that every region will receive the same version of the game on launch day. The game will also launch with English and Japanese dual-audio support.
AI: The Somnium Files tells the story of detective Kaname Date who is investigating a mysterious serial killer. Dante investigates these crime scenes by looking over the physical setting as well as peering into dreams to look for clues. One day, Dante arrives at a crime scene and recognizes a woman that he knows from somewhere. He then hears a noise from inside of a merry-go-round and finds a young girl with a bloody ice pick in her hand.
