Nintendo has announced a brand new Kirby game arriving on Nintendo Switch later this Summer, Kirby’s Dream Buffet. At least loosely akin to the beloved Kirby Dream’s Course, up to 4 players can roll around, but not quite at the speed of the sound. Instead, Kirby and other characters will race through obstacle courses and gradually grow larger via strawberry consumption en masse. Then, participants confront each other in a final battle atop a floating platform.
You can view the announcement trailer for Kirby’s Dream Buffet below. A digital-only release has also been specified, with the eShop page also currently available. There also seems to be no online play, as the store page explicitly states single system usage.
If you missed it, check out our review of Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the newest game in the franchise, bringing it to a new dimension. All previous mainline titles were 2D platformers, even when some of those featured 3D assets. As players get to explore abandoned areas from a past civilization, this will likely add new elements to the dark lore hidden in the series. (This is not a joke.)
Besides being able to move around freely through the stages, Forgotten Land includes the traditional copy abilities. By inhaling enemies, Kirby can copy their powers using distinct movesets to advance through the areas and beat down enemies on his way.
