Kirby and the Forgotten Land Receives New Trailer; Kirby Becomes A Car

During today’s Nintendo Direct, the publisher and developer shared a new trailer for the next mainline Kirby title, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, as well as briefly detailing the new Mouthful Mode control system, which allows Kirby to inhale inanimate objects to take on properties like the ability to move vehicles or act as a light-bulb. They also introduced the ability to “evolve” Kirby’s traditional copy ability modes.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the newest game in the franchise, bringing it to a new dimension. All previous mainline titles were 2D platformers, even when some of those featured 3D assets. As players get to explore abandoned areas from a past civilization, this will likely add new elements to the dark lore hidden in the series. (This is not a joke.) Besides being able to move around freely through the stages, Forgotten Land will include the traditional copy abilities, some of which are shown in the video. By inhaling enemies, Kirby can copy their powers using distinct movesets to advance through the areas and beat down enemies on his way. Kirby and the Forgotten Land will launch for Nintendo Switch on March 25, 2022.
