The Menus of Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory Will Change Depending on Your Party and We Get a Closer Look at Summons in Screenshots

Square Enix released new screenshots for their rhythm-based action game, Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One on November 13.

The screenshots give us a look at how Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory will handle summons during a match. By using a “Summoning Star” in a Field Battle Music Stage, players can enlist characters such as Mickey to assist with healing. We are assuming that other summons will be available and will provide different bonuses. Additionally, Disney characters can fight alongside the group during Field Battle Music Stages.

One cool feature has the main menu change depending on your party of characters. Some of the scenes depict memorable moments within the series. And lastly, we see the Performer style uses more buttons than usual, which provides a challenge to players. This is recommended for higher-level players.

Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory will launch with an exclusive feature on Switch that allows players to access a Free-for-all mode, which gives the option to compete with up to 8 players. A trailer of the mode stated that this is a local play mode. However, the game also features a new story chapter for the Kingdom Hearts series.

Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory borrows elements of games that we’ve seen in the past from the developer with titles like Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. The game features music from the series, and players can tap along to beat. However, the layout of the levels is 3D as characters seem to exist on rails as the not, displayed as enemies, come at them.

Disney characters will also appear to help Sora, Donald, and Goofy and lent their abilities throughout the adventure. The game will feature over 140 songs from across the Kingdom Hearts series and Disney songs, including “Destiny Islands,” “Hand in Hand,” “Working Together,” and more from the game’s composer Yoko Shimomura.

A demo is available now on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One; you can check out our preview.
