Kingdom Hearts III ‘ReMind’ DLC Trailer Breakdown

Ahead of E3, Square Enix showed off a trailer for the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III DLC entitled ‘ReMind‘ at the Los Angeles ‘World of Tres’ concert. Then they dropped it online for everyone. This teaser shows off some tidbits for story content, as well as updates for the main story to make important story battles that much more enjoyable. You can watch the trailer below if you haven’t already, but please be aware that there are spoilers for endgame content in Kingdom Hearts 3 within. I’m going to be talking about all of it underneath too.

Let’s break it down: We’ve got Luxord and Xigbar, now revealed to be Luxu, having some sort of confrontation over their own allegiances. We know that Luxord and Demyx have ties to being an ancient keyblade wielder and at this time the mobile game hasn’t revealed anything about them either. We could find out something about the trump card Luxord gave Sora after his battle though, which would be nice. We’ve also got the backstory in regards to Young Xehanort, and how Luxu (or the Master of Masters, it’s not the clearest) ‘assisted him’ with his journey. Though I have to wonder how they’ll actually present this stuff outside of just giving us exposition filled cutscenes.

On top of this, we’ve got the gameplay. It looks like we can now control one character from each game’s trio for their respective boss fights. Aqua can be used to fight Terra-nort with Ven and we can control Roxas in what is my favorite fight in the game. I have a huge 358/2 days bias ok. The Twilight trio are my children, I love them. Playing as Roxas is going to be ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I could scream. Riku is now also going to be playable during the fight against Luxord, Larxene, and Marluxia alongside Mickey and an A.I controlled Sora. That’s not been seen before. I mean technically unless you count data-Sora. Unless he had a heart? I don’t know Kingdom Hearts is weird.

Finally, Sora will get access to one of the best Keyblades, Oathkeeper along with a unique form change for it. I don’t know why he didn’t have this keyblade to start, it’s iconic and would have really fit the final battle, to begin with, but I am so glad we’re getting it now.

Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind is set to come out sometime this winter (That’s summer if you’re in the southern hemisphere). Kingdom Hearts III is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

In case you missed, Critical Mode has recently been added to the game to make things a bit more difficult for players.
