Proficient Kingdom Hearts III Project Darkling Mod Adds Final Fantasy Weaponry
User Kenpeidan has created a creatively ambitious Kingdom Hearts III mod called Project Darkling. This impressive aesthetic overhaul completely alters the appearances of the Guardians of Light as well as Donald and Goofy, with them looking more akin to Anti-Aqua from near the end of the game. Additionally, the project’s name is derived from the Darkling creatures introduced in Kingdom Hearts χ, which Anti-Aqua shares some design similarities with.
Battle quotes, the game UI, and general visual effects have all been redone to provide a fittingly darker ambiance. Additionally of note is how the weapons for each Guardian of Light, as well as Donald and Goofy, have been replaced with Final Fantasy weaponry extracted from Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Dissidia NT: Final Fantasy for a collective, more robust identity.

In Kingdom Hearts IV, Sora is in Quadratum with Strelitzia, a prominent character from Kingdom Hearts Union χ. This setting is an afterworld for the two characters following their tragic fates. Additionally, this new saga has been titled the Lost Master Arc. Further, some combat footage was showcased, with Sora performing Keyblade transformations against a giant entity that seems to be a Heartless? We don’t know for sure.
“The heart resides within the soul, which in turn is guided by fate to its rightful place” is a crucial phrase used at the start of this trailer for the upcoming mainline game.
