Here’s What Kingdom Hearts III ‘Critical Mode’ Will Add to the Game

Square Enix has officially released the update for Kingdom Hearts III which unlocks “Critical Mode” as a difficulty option for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

As the name suggests, the mode aims to make things a little tougher for players who have beat the game or perhaps players that found the other difficulties to be a little too easy.

Here is what players can expect when playing through the game in Critical Mode:

  • Player character’s maximum HP and MP have been halved.
  • The frequency of situation commands and magic is lowered – this refers to the special attacks that players get offered during some battles where Donald or Goofy will cause high damage or Sora will summon a ship and other things to hurt enemies.
  • Sora can perform new abilities exclusive to this harder difficulty mode – this will unlock new skills for Sora throughout the adventure that were not present in previous modes.

Additionally, the updated adds a feature for players to carry over their Keyblades to a new game. However, Keyblades that are carried over will return to the default strength, but using the feature players are able to use end game Keyblades in the early portions of the game.

Kingdom Hearts III is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
