Kingdom Hearts Dark Road’s Offline Update Has Been Delayed Indefinitely
The official Twitter account for Kingdom Hearts Dark Road has announced that the title’s offline version update has been delayed to an unspecified date. For those unaware, following the closure of Kingdom Hearts Union Cross χ earlier this year, Dark Road was promised to receive a significant update this September shifting the game’s playable state to an offline format as well as providing the rest of the story it was intended to tell.
However, it seems those plans fell through, and now fans have no idea when to expect the conclusion to this continually mishandled chapter of the Kingdom Hearts franchise. This delay is truly a shame because the narrative of Dark Road has been legitimately engaging. Still, it was held back by its gacha functionality and its mindless, idling gameplay. However, I am glad that the team said something instead of being completely silent, like what happened to Kingdom Hearts Union Cross χ. It’s a low bar to clear, but it’s a bar nonetheless.
Hopefully, this extended wait time proves to be worthwhile.
Our team’s Ryuji translated the message from the Dark Road team below:
“We regretfully announce that the update of the Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road offline version Ver. 5.0.0, which was scheduled to be released in late September, has been postponed [indefinitely]. Further information will be provided at a later date, so we ask players to wait for a while until then. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
