Kingdom Hearts Dark Road Launching August 26, 2022; 20th Anniversary Recap Video Live

Square Enix has finally announced that the highly-anticipated remainder of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road will be launching on August 26, 2022. A new official tweet from the game’s official Japanese PR account confirmed this information, alongside sharing a few new screenshots depicting Master Xehanort and Vanitas, likely during the context of the Birth by Sleep era.

Moreover, Square Enix also finally published the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event recap video, which does exactly as its title suggests. However, the end of the video also shows a brief new scene regarding baby Xehanort and the mysterious blue-robed figure that was watching over him on Destiny Islands.

The game has been previously confirmed to be removing all purchase systems in this upcoming update, including the gacha.

Lastly, a VOD of the voice actor panel was uploaded, though there are no English subtitles:

In Kingdom Hearts IV, Sora is in Quadratum with Strelitzia, a prominent character from Kingdom Hearts Union χ. This setting is an afterworld for the two characters following their tragic fates. Additionally, this new saga has been titled the Lost Master Arc. Further, some combat footage was showcased, with Sora performing Keyblade transformations against a giant entity that seems to be a Heartless? We don’t know for sure.

“The heart resides within the soul, which in turn is guided by fate to its rightful place” is a crucial phrase used at the start of this trailer for the upcoming mainline game.
