Disney has announced that an original Kingdom Hearts anime series is in development, inspired by the video game series. It will be available soon on Disney Plus and Disney Channel.
The series is being developed in collaboration with Tetsuya Nomura and the Square Enix Creative Team. More details will be shared in the near future.
Tetsuya Nomura shared the following message:
It has been decided that an animated series based on Kingdom Hearts will be produced.
I imagine the sudden announcement came as a surprise to many of you. Some of you are probably wondering, “What will it be about?”
There are still many things I can’t talk about yet, but I, along with the scenario team, have been holding extensive discussions about the project. The art team will also lend its support when necessary, and we have created several new character designs specifically for this series.
I can’t say anything more for now, but there is one hint: the single piece of key art that has been revealed.

Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III] will be released natively for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on October 8, 2026. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX will also be available on Switch.
Kingdom Hearts IV will launch in late 2027 for Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
