Kill la Kill X Gurren Lagann the Movie at Anime NYC 2023 Director and Studio Panel Streaming Now
Aniplex USA has posted the panel from Anime NYC 2023 focused on Kill la Kill X Gurren Lagann the Movie.
The panel hosts Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and Creative Officer Hiromi Wakabayashi from Studio TRIGGER, plus acclaimed Art Director Shigeto Koyama, as well as the English cast of KILL la KILL – Erica Mendez (Ryuko Matoi) and Christine Marie Cabanos (Mako Mankanshoku).
During the video, the Koyama-san shares details about developing the project and how it came to be. Further, the panel jokes about how Wakabayashi-san got the Creative Officer position. The panel discussed how Showa-era manga and anime are some of the inspirations for the retro-style animation and story. The characters were then drawn using thick-bold lines, and the rest is history. Other parts of the video focus on how Studio Trigger operates and the company’s history coming from Studio Gainax.
Lastly, the publisher announced that Gurren Lagan The Movie will head to Western theaters, Subbed and Dubbed, remastered in 4D and 4K. Childhood’s End will launch on January 16 & 17, 2024, and The Lights in the Skay are Stars will launch on January 23 & 24, 2024. Theaters may be limited. Fathom Events will have all the details when tickets become available on December 8.
