Publisher HAKURO and developer Kalinarm have released a major demo update for their indie arcade rougelike KAZ, featuring new modes, customization options, and gameplay systems.
At its core, KAZ focuses on score-chasing runs built around quick decision-making and pattern recognition. This update introduces No Stress mode, which removes time pressure and replaces it with a limited move system.
The demo now includes seven new visual themes, including selections from a community UGC contest. Each theme comes with its own gameplay modifier. The update also expands the item pool and maluses. Players can mix items, boosts, spells, and consumables.
Audio and visual feedback have also been reworked. Score gauge animations and sound design have been adjusted to better match the game’s music-driven structure. The soundtrack includes more than 10 interactive tracks that evolve as your score increases.
A new Twitch integration feature has been added as well. Streamers can link their channel and allow viewers to vote on item choices between rounds.
KAZ is in the works for PC via Steam.
