Stealth-Action Title ‘Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief’ Shares PS4, PC & Switch Launch Trailer

Publisher NIS America has shared the launch trailer for the Acquire-developed stealth action Kamiwaza: Way of the Thief. The title is now available in America for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, while Europe will receive the game on these same platforms on October 14, 2022.

You can view the title’s launch trailer below, highlighting the protagonist’s goal and surrounding circumstances regarding the premise:

Kamiwaza takes place in Japan’s Edo period with the protagonist Ebizo, a former acclaimed thief who now cares for a youth named Suzuna. However, Suzuna eventually falls ill, and to afford her costly treatment, Ebizo returns to his life of crime. He’s determined to go through hell and back to achieve this caring goal.

The game has been stated by prospective players to look awfully similar to Tenchu, at least from a conceptual gameplay standpoint, and that perspective certainly still retains after this latest trailer. Stealth is an integral part of this experience, with hiding and sneaking around prominently showcased. Further, there is also combat, though it might just be the last resort in particular forced situations where utilizing stealth simply isn’t feasible.

Also in the realm of Acquire’s catalog is Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, a nearly decade-old cult classic that has been confirmed to be receiving brand new DLC. Pretty wild stuff.
