Since Atelier Ryza’s adventure began in 2019 with the release of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, fans have been curious about the relationship shared between Reisalin Stout and Klaudia Valentz. Their meeting seems to be led by fate as the adventurous Ryza saves the timid flute player from a monster attack.
Since their initial meeting, Ryza and Klaudia’s relationship has grown, and many fans have caught onto various dialogue cues that could hint that there’s something else between them, something…more intimate. However, these ideas can be seen as simply fan-shipping dreams that will never really be addressed, and any normal person would leave it at that, but we’re not that kind of website.
We had the opportunity to interview the Head of GUST, Junzo Hosoi, to get some questions answered about the series and some insight on the upcoming conclusion of the Ryza trilogy with the release of Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key. Of course, one of our questions asked if there was any truth to the fan theory that Ryza and Klauda are more than friends.
Hosoi-san replied, “I think the fans have various feelings towards Ryza, Klaudia and the other characters. The image we as the developers have of these characters is based completely on what we have delivered in the game, so it is very interesting to hear what kind of impression players have to the characters based on information about the game or after playing the game.”
And that’s it. As you notice, he doesn’t completely shut it down, but I’m curious to know what you think about his response.
We’ll share the full interview soon.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & The Secret Key will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 24, 2023.
