JRPG ‘Monark’ Gets February Release Date And New ‘Adversaries’ Trailer

NIS America has announced the release date for Monark. The Japanese RPG developed by a collaboration between FuRyu and Lancarse will be available in the west for PS4, PS5, Switch and PC -via Steam– on February 22, 2022. Besides the date, NISA has shared a new trailer focused on the mysterious opponents to the protagonist’s group.

Monark takes place in Shin Mikado Academy, a school that’s currently suffering the effects of a Mist that makes people go mad. Unfortunately, the place is also separated from the rest of the world by a barrier, which means the only way out is for the protagonist and his newfound friends to fight.

The protagonist makes a pact with a Daemonic power and obtains the Authority of Vanity. With it, he’ll be able to strenghten his Ego and fight against the abominations that reside in the academy. Alongside him, there are four companions and your choices to side more with one of them will lead to different destinies.

It’s up to the player to make allies called fiends, who are unlocked according to how the player’s Ego evolves through the game. The player can also use incredible powers in battle with the protagonist’s Authority, but mishandle those and the MAD Gauge will fill. Being overtaken by madness means attacking both allies and enemies as well as self-destructing, making it important for the player to properly analyze the risks.
