JAST BLUE Announces They Are No Longer Localizing ‘Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID-‘ Due to High Costs
The official JAST BLUE Twitter account has announced that, unfortunately, the JAST team has abandoned the localization process for the Nitro+Chiral developed Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID-.
JAST is known for localizing other BL titles such as Sweet Pool, Togainu no Chi, and DRAMAtical Murder. They are also currently working on localizing the upcoming BL visual novel, Slow Damage. To say that fans are disappointed by their dropping of Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID- would be an understatement. However, their reasoning for abandoning this project, for the time being, makes complete sense.
In numerous replies to several distressed fans questioning why the title’s localization was dropped, JAST BLUE said that the expenses for bringing this visual novel over to western audiences were simply not worthwhile. The sales of “the other games,” presumably the other BL visual novels they have worked on localizing, have made the cost of bringing over Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID- unrealistic and unfeasible.
There was a suggestion for a crowdfunding model, which JAST BLUE did not entirely deny the possibility of pursuing but replied that it was not a process they were currently looking into making a reality.
As saddening as this news is, the announcement tweet of this project’s cancellation specified they would not be localizing Lamento -BEYOND THE VOID- “in the near future”. This likely provides little comfort due to its vague time window, but there’s always a chance that JAST BLUE may return to this game in the future.
