Old-School FPS ‘Ion Fury’ Gets Physical and Digital Release Date for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch

3D Realms and 1C Entertainment announced that they will release the old-school first-person shooter Ion Fury on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on May 14, with a physical release planned for June 26 on all consoles.

Ion Fury follows Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison as she fights against cyber-cultist with everything she can find. Players will get to utilize a variety of weapons to take down anything that gets in their way. Shelly is tasked with hunting down Dr. Jadus Heskel through the streets of Neo DC. Each level has multiple paths to the goal, but the carnage left on the floor will be the same.

Ion Fury doesn’t feature health regeneration, but it does teach you that running and gunning is the path to salvation. Each map features secret areas with various special weapons available.

“We wanted to make sure the gory fun from the PC version felt just as great on consoles,” said Mike Nielsen, CEO of 3D Realms. “We never thought we would see the day where we could use the Build engine on modern consoles, but we think our players will enjoy the efforts of Voidpoint and General Arcade’s fantastic work.”

Ion Fury is influenced heavily by Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Blood. During gameplay, players can duck, jump, climb, swim, and of course, shoot their way through levels. The console version will run at 60fps and feature the same gameplay elements found on PC.
