Insightful Interview with NieR Staff From IGN Japan Discusses Series Development, Art Direction, Growth, and More

IGN Japan recently conducted a collective interview with various notable members of the NieR series staff; series producer Yosuke Saito, series creative director Yoko Taro, NieR Replicant director Saki Ito, and NieR Re[in]carnation director Matsukawa Daichi.

This interview is chock full of insightful and engaging background on specific facets of the NieR series growth stated directly from key members of the staff. Aspects discussed include the struggles of working with multiple internal development studios across each title, the unprecedented growth the series has seen across the past couple of years, the mentality and effort that goes into deciding upon finalized art directions, and much, much more.

Thankfully, despite this interview being in Japanese, the uploaded Youtube video does have English Closed Captions available, diversifying the audience that can enjoy this informative media.

If you missed it, be sure to check out our review of NieR Replicant back when it launched on PlayStation 4. It is one of the few 10s we have awarded, and for just reasons. Additionally, we reviewed the recent mobile entry of the series, NieR Re[in]carnation, which we have mixed feelings on.
