ININ Games to Co-publish ‘Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- Xtend Edition‘ Hopefully for a Physical Release on Switch

Publisher ININ Games announced that they would be joining Sekai Games to publish the western release of Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- Xtend Edition on Nintendo Switch. A release date has not been provided but they do mention a “Full reveal coming soon.”

The publisher’s announcement comes with some questions as to why the co-publishing deal. The only thing we can come up with is that ININ Games will handle the physical release, as we’ve seen them do with their Strictly Limited Games partnership. However, this could also just be a way to release the game in Europe, while Sekai Games releases in North America, which they’ve been working with Limited Run Games to launch physical versions of their titles.

Released on PC and then later on PlayStation Vita in 2018, Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- tell the story of a scientific research facility named LABO that was built by a lake on the outskirts of “Rokumie City. However, an incident occurs, and nine individuals end up trapped in the basement. One of these trapped survivors is a high school student name Natsuhiko Tenkawa.

Players will journey through his memories of the six days leading up to the incident and start from his viewpoint. Also, players will see the story from the perspective of the squad captain, who is attempting to rescue the survivors and the nine-hour escape that unfolds in front of his eyes.

Root Double -Before Crime * After Days- is a lengthy visual novel with over 50 hours of content, so much so that it wouldn’t fit on a PlayStation Vita cartridge. Although the Switch’s cartridges could hold more storage, a physical release has not been announced.
