Pearl Abyss launched a new character for their arena fighter, Shadow Arena, available free-to-play on PC-via Steam Early Access now.
The developer has revealed Igrid as the 14th hero in the game. She specializes in close-range combat using an ax and shield. Sadly, like other characters, she is locked behind a paywall or a ton of in-game currency. However, there will be a free 2 week trial period from today through August 26 where players can access every hero in the game.
Igrid is a strong fighter using her ax to deal high damage. Also, her shield is mostly used for defense, but she can use it to push back enemies. Even though she wears heavy armor, she is still exceptionally agile, but some of her jump attacks leave her open to counter attacks.
Shadow Arena pits 40 players against one another on a battlefield and only requires them to be the last one standing. Players are able to choose from nine playable characters during the beta, each with their own unique fighting style.
In order to get ahead in a match, players will need to hunt monsters and collect loot to upgrade their gear and gain buffs. However, battles also come down to well-timed evasive tactics and skill usage.
