UPDATE: Hyperdimension Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution Announced for PS4, PS5 & Switch; August 2023 Japan Release

Following the announcement of a new Neptunia game in the works, Compile Heart and Famitsu have revealed new screenshots for a series spinoff, as well as its title, Hyperdimension Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution. Older Neptune, who fans will know of from Megadimension VII, will be featured here, and the game is scheduled to release in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on August 10, 2023.

Famitsu shared the following synopsis, translated by our team’s Ryuji:

It is an era of war between the factions of game makers. Three goddesses of game makers were defeated in the race to win the “market share” of game sales and perished. They were then branded as “failures” and left to fade away. But then, all of a sudden…Older Neptune, a girl who has traveled through many dimensional worlds, appears out of nowhere! She is then asked a favor by those three goddesses: to become the president of their company and hopefully resurrect their dying game maker.

We’ll share more information as the Famitsu issue releases later today, which contains new artwork, story, and gameplay information.

The following two screenshots were provided:

The game will feature a motorcycle for travel and racing.

Further, new characters include Pipi, likely based on the Apple Pippin console, Jaguar, based on the Atari Jaguar, and Ridio, based on the 3DO.

Humorously, part of Jaguar’s catchphrase is “Do the Math,” a slogan for the Atari Jaguar console.

Neptunia: Sisters vs. Sisters stars the Goddess Candidates, who are sent out to investigate a laboratory. It was there that they found the “Ashen Goddess,” who trapped them in a deep sleep capsule. By the time they awoke, 2 years had already passed. Now, The latest smartphone, the “rPhone,” dominates the market, and Neptune has been missing since she left for the PC Continent, leaving Planeptune ravaged by a new phenomenon, the Trendi Outbreaks.

During gameplay, players can create combos, customize their characters with various accessories, explore a Chirper social network to accept side quests, and put together three-member teams to fight against enemies.
