Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Reveals Child of Light Collab Gameplay; The Free Update is Arriving Later Today
Ubisoft and publisher 505 Games released a trailer highlighting the crossover between the rhyming RPG Child of Light and the gothic action sidescroller from developer ArtPlay, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, available later today on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Stadia, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will launch at a later date.
The collab even will find Aurora from Child of Light as a playable character. After saving Lemuria in her own adventure, she awakens in dangerous and unfamiliar territory. In a new storyline written in a poetic, rhyming style akin to Child of Light, Aurora sets out to rescue her friends and break the castle’s curse.
Players can experience the events of Bloodstained through the perspective of this new character by choosing her from the main menu. The DLC goes live on March 31, 2022 at 9am PT.
Aurora has her own moveset and abilities, making the game feel new. Call upon sacred powers to wield the devastating Light Ray and decimate foes with elemental damage. Evolve to meet new challenges and unlock new areas of the castle: gain wings to fly, become an adult to swim underwater, and don spike-proof armor to bypass deadly spikes.
While Aurora does not have Miriam’s Shardbinder abilities, she can use shards to improve her own skills and access Familiar (passive) and Conjure (active) shards. Each represents one of her lost friends, all with their own powers to aid Aurora on her adventure. Upgrade abilities further with help from Miriam’s friend Johannes using alchemy and items she finds in chests and defeated enemies.
“I feel honored to be able to collaborate with such a prestigious title!” said Koji Igarashi, Artplay co-founder. “Lots of time, effort and coordination have gone into this and I hope you all enjoy Aurora’s active participation.”
