Writer Tiago Rech (TELEFORUM, Drowned Lake) has announced that a Switch edition of I Did Not Buy This Ticket is currently in development. According to a post on BlueSky, the visual novel will be available on Nintendo’s system starting August 27, 2026.
In the game, players assume the role of Candelaria, a woman whose job is to cry for people recently departed. Even though she has no ties and doesn’t know them, she’s expected to help make funerals seem more emotive.
From a funeral to another, she’s constantly on the road, passing time in long night treks. One day, however, she finds herself with a ticket she did not buy to a mysterious bus line called Eigengrau. Taking this bus feels surreal making use of the game’s eerie art direction by Lirio Ninotchka.
Thanks to this situation, she’s now confronted with traumas of unresolved situations of her own life. Depending on player choice, it’s possible to reach different endings, making her acknowledge these issues or try to keep running from them.
I Did Not Buy This Ticket was originally released on Steam back in 2023 as one of Time Galleon’s titles. The team behind it is currently working on I Shall Name the Dead with publisher Dangen Entertainment responsible for its upcoming distribution on Steam in Early 2027.
