Hideki Kamiya Leaving PlatinumGames October 2023
PlatinumGames has announced that Hideki Kamiya will leave the company on October 12, 2023. No specific reasoning was provided for this forthcoming departure, but Kamiya has assured his fans that he will continue to create in his own “Hideki Kamiya way.”
You can view PlatinumGames’ message regarding Kamiya leaving below:
“We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on October 12, 2023.
We are truly grateful for his creative ideas, leadership and contribution to the growth of PlatinumGames from our start-up to this very day.
We believe that he will continue to succeed in his future endeavors as a game creator. We are looking forward to seeing the game industry grow into a better place with him in it. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Kamiya is known for having worked on a number of significant games from the studio, including Viewtiful Joe, Okami, the Bayonetta trilogy, and more. He also used to be employed at Capcom and then Clover before co-founding PlatinumGames alongside Shinji Mikami and Atsushi Inaba.
It’s no exaggeration to call Kamiya the current face of PlatinumGames, so it’s worth wondering what both he and the developer will be doing in the future after their parting.
