Developer Infinite Thread Games and publisher Loopr Partners have announced Hidalgo, a story-driven adventure inspired by the classic novel Don Quixote. The game will be playable solo or in local cooperative mode and is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam later this year.
Hidalgo takes place within a handcrafted puppet world built from recycled materials. Across three chapters, players will follow Don Quijote, his companion Sancho Panza, and Sancho’s donkey Rucio, inspired by iconic moments from the original story.
The narrative also follows a parallel storyline centered on a modern-day family who bring the puppet world to life. The childrens’ experiences mirror Don Quixote’s own trials.
Players will solve environmental puzzles that require coordinating Don Quijote and Sancho, either alone or with a second player in local co-op. Perspective-based gameplay segments feature first-person parallax puzzles.
Players will also encounter boss fights against enemies born from Quijote’s delusions while exploring a colorful version of La Mancha crafted entirely from recycled materials.
