Early 90’s Cancelled Game ‘Hardcore’ Announced for PS4 and PS Vita Coming 2019

Strictly Limited Games announced their plans to revive the canceled DICE developed 2D action game Hardcore and bring the title to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2019.

Almost 99% complete in the early 90’s, Hardcore was canceled due to the shift away from 2D shooters and into the realm of 3D adventure games. At the time of cancelation, the game had a planned release for Commodore Amiga, Genesis, and Sega Mega-CD.

Now, Strictly Limited Games has teamed up with DICE founders, Fredrik Liljegren and Joakim Wejdemar as well as ex-DICE programmer Mikael Kalms to bring the game to current consoles to finally complete the game and release it.

Mr. Liljegren released in a statement, “I know the care, love, sweat and hard work that went into creating Hardcore it in the first place by all involved parties. Thus, I think it is fantastic that this product finally gets to see the light of day and for people to be able to play it finally.

Strictly Limited Games has also confirmed that the game will release digitally and physically on PS4 and PS Vita in 2019.

Author’s take: This announcement surprised the hell out me! I’ve heard about the story of this game over the year’s but never did I think it would be announced in this way. Also, physical Vita release in 2019!
