Hand-Drawn Metroidvania ‘HAAK’ Revealed in New Trailer With Early Access Release Window

Lightning Games announced that they will publish the Blingame-developed Metroidvania adventure game, HAAK, with a planned Steam Early Access release in Q3 2020.

HAAK is set within the ruins of a decaying city where players awaken in the rubble holding a multifunctional Energy Hook. This hook is used to grapple through areas, hack away at enemies, and take on anything the wasteland throws at you. The control within the game are made to be tight and responsive so players can make split-second decisions as they try to deal with the complexities of some of the areas.

“We’re really excited for people to be able to play the Early Access build of HAAK,” said Derek Huang, CEO of Bligame. “We’re really proud of all we’ve achieved with it, but since it’s such a deep game with so much content, we want to be sure that it’s properly balanced and bug-free before we release the final build. For that reason, we’re relying on the community for feedback. We think HAAK is a really special game, brimming with moody atmosphere and deep systems, and we’re determined to make it as polished as possible thanks to players like you.”

The game will offer players main and side-missions to explore along with various upgrades available for the character. The Early Access time is being to address user feedback as they plan for a full launch in 2021.
