.hack//G.U. Last Recode Developer Encourages Fans to Contact Bandai Namco for a Switch Port

CyberConnect2 released a new Q&A video where CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama answers fan questions from around the world.

In this episode, Matsuyama-san addresses a fan question about porting .hack//G.U. Last Recode to Nintendo Switch. The developer points out that the series has always had a close relationship with PlayStation, but the Steam release opened the door to new platforms.

When it comes to a possible Switch version, the company has presented the idea to publisher Bandai Namco several times. However, the publisher responded that it’s hard to predict the cost of porting and the sales prospects. It’s for that reason that the Switch version was not put into production.

Matsuyama-san went on to encourage fans to request a Nintendo Switch version from Bandai Namco as they’d love to see it released on the console.

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is an HD remastered port of the trilogy with an added conclusion, Vol. 4//Reconnection. The game improved the frame rates and systems that held back the original. These UI adjustments affected the battle system and made things more streamlined alongside graphical improvements to character models and environments.

In case you want to know more, we had an interview with the developer about how they are self-publishing in the west and their desire to continue the support of the .hack series.
