Astrolabe Games announced that the Spikewave Games-developed hack-and-stealth game Evotinction will launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam on September 13, 2024. The game was a part of the China Hero Project.
Evotinction takes players into a near-future scenario where a virus of unknown origin wreaks havoc on a self-sustained research facility named HERE. The virus infects the facility’s AI system, turning harmless service robots into deadly adversaries. Players take on the role of Dr. Liu, the Head of R&D at HERE and one of the system’s original architects. With the facility overrun and the AI out of control, Dr. Liu must navigate this perilous environment, searching for survivors and uncovering the root cause of the catastrophe.
Unlike traditional protagonists, Dr. Liu is not a combat-trained hero but a tech-savvy researcher armed with an impressive array of hacking skills. Players will utilize these skills to disable security systems, manipulate rogue AI behavior, and stealthily avoid unnecessary confrontations. From long-range signal disruption to hologram illusions and system takeovers, Dr. Liu’s gadgets are essential for surviving and neutralizing threats within the facility. As he delves deeper, encountering more formidable killer robots, the true nature of the AI infection and potential hidden motives behind the chaos will be revealed, leading to an intense and thought-provoking journey of evolution and extinction.
