Gwent Card Game Tournament Kicks off Tomorrow
The Witcher game series creators, CD Project Red is starting their seventh GWENT Open tournament this weekend, from October 13th to the 14th.
Eight pro Gwent player from around the world are competing for a bulk of a $25,000 cash prize, in-game Crown Points and a spot in next tournament before the grand finals.
The event begins Saturday 13th 7 AM PST and will be live-streamed on CD Project Red’s Twitch channel as well as their Twitter account for Gwent Masters. Viewers will be able to earn rewards for tuning in, including “Card Kegs” and the winner’s favorite card.

Gwent is an online card game based on The Witcher 3’s in-game side activity where the basic objective is to strategically have your three combat types; Close Range, Long Range, and Seige to have a higher numerical value than your opponent to win a round. First to win two out of there rounds is the winner.

Author’s Take: I’ll admit it, I only played two matches of Gwent in The Witcher 3, a game I also didn’t beat. But it’s refreshing to talk about an esport that’s not shooting or fighting.
