Solo developer ynoham has released a demo for Gunmetal Gothic, a retro-3D co-op shooter-RPG currently in development for PC via Steam. The game is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access in June 2027, while the demo is available now.
The demo includes three missions, character customization, and support for solo play or online co-op with up to four players. Gunmetal Gothic casts players as Anchorites defending the city of Vestige from demonic mechanical enemies that have invaded from another dimension.
Combat combines firearms, spells, equipment, and character progression. Players can build loadouts through a point-buy system, collect new gear, and upgrade equipment using materials found during missions. Stages also include a scoring system based on defeating enemies, finding loot, and finishing quickly.
Its low-poly presentation takes cues from late-1990s console shooters, pairing retro 3D visuals with a gothic sci-fi setting.
ynoham has already started updating the demo based on player feedback. Patch 0.1.3.15 adjusts several combat and interaction systems, including revives, mission completion prompts, enemy attack behavior, turning responsiveness, and hit detection. The update also adds tutorial messages, controller and input settings, and fixes for crashes, multiplayer issues, and movement bugs.
The initial Early Access release is planned to include five required story missions, several optional missions, online multiplayer, and an introduction to endgame content. These missions will cover two complete fixed stages and part of a third.
Development is expected to continue in Early Access for roughly two years. The full release is planned to expand the story and optional missions while adding another complete fixed stage, a randomized stage, higher-difficulty challenges, stronger equipment tiers, and alternate game modes.
Gunmetal Gothic is scheduled to launch in Steam Early Access for PC in June 2027. Its three-mission demo is available now.
