Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition Announced for Switch Bundling Two of Series’ Titles

PQube announced they will publish two classic titles in the Arc Systems Works developed 2d fighting series Guilty Gear, Guity Gear and Guilty Gear XX Λcore Plus R, and bring them to modern consoles.

First off, both games will be available to purchase individually on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, but the Nintendo Switch version will receive the Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition, which is a physical release of both games on one cartridge.

Guilty Gear released in 1998 on the original PlayStation. The game brought a unique style and presentation to the fighting game community that has been a mainstay in the series over the years. Additionally, fans enjoyed the complex and over-the-top anime-style story as they followed the character’s journey throughout every game.

Guilty Gear XX Λcore Plus R released in 2008 in Japan and marks the final installment of the Guilty Gear XX series, which balanced everything introduced in the previous 12 installments. Players were able to use skills to cancel all kinds of action, which changed the flow of battle and set the bar for the rest of the series.

Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear XX Λcore Plus R don’t currently have a release date.

Author’s take: This is such a good announcement, although it’s almost crucial to get a better controller if you’re trying to play fighting games on the Switch.
