Obsidian Reveals Multiplayer Survival Project ‘Grounded’
During Inside Xbox XO19 in London, Obsidian reveal their newest project Grounded, coming to the Xbox Insider program then Xbox One and PC in Spring 2020.
The game seems to focus on multiplayer elements of players existing in a giant world. Assuming the role of kids, players are shrunken to explore environments, which brings a new perspective to maps. Gameplay will have players construct forts to hold off waves of ants as they explore the backyard and basically survive. Objectives in the game were not revealed, but it seems to focus on players moving from point to point as they fight against ants. Other bugs were not shown, but we can only imagine what the studio has in mind.
Obsidian recently launched The Outer Words to critical acclaim. The developer mentions that this title is worked on by a smaller group at the studio because they wanted to see what they could bring to the survival genre. More information about the game will be revealed soon, but for now, you can enjoy the reveal trailer to get an idea of the game’s systems and mechanics.
Other release platforms were not revealed at the event.
