Survival Adventure ‘Grounded’ Gives Developer Commentary on the Insects Encountered in the Backyard
Obsidian Entertainment launched a new trailer updating players about their survival adventure Grounded available on Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access now.
The trailer highlights the insects found in the backyard and how they’ve developed them to be much like their life-like counterparts. The video details the ladybugs, spiders, ants, aphids, and more as each creature follows a Goal-Oriented-Action-Plan (GOAP) managed by artificial intelligence as they lead their own busy lives throughout the yard.
This GOAP AI system will continue to evolve through the game’s early access. The developer plans on introducing more insects to the ecosystem which could change the behavior of the insects already implemented.
Grounded focuses on multiplayer elements and has players exist in a giant world. Assuming the role of a kid, players are shrunken to explore environments, which brings a new perspective to maps. Gameplay will have players construct forts to hold off waves of ants as they explore the backyard and do their best to survive. There are several objectives to the game that players will need to meet in order to progress.
Grounded is scheduled to launch on Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 28.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the game’s development.
