Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Vol.5 Launches on Steam After Successful Kickstarter
Frontwing released the newest entry in their ongoing Grisaia visual novel series with Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Vol.5, available now on PC-via Steam.
Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Vol.5 continues the Phantom Trigger arc of the series, which the studio plans to continue into 2019. The story picks up when Murasaki’s older sister Yuuki returns to Japan to rejoin Class A. Evidently, Yuuki is more sociable and capable than her sister and is immediately befriended by her peers.
Does this make sense to you? If no then it’s probably because you haven’t played the series yet. Grisaia: Phantom Trigger follows a class of students who attend a special school. These students are sent on confidential missions which put their lives in danger. Throughout the story, the students are faced with tough situations and choices that shape their individual personalities.
Grisaia: Phantom Trigger Vol.5 was localized off the back of a successful Kickstarter that raised over $40,000 and offered fans physical goods based off the characters from the series.
Additionally, an anime adaptation of Grisaia: Phantom Trigger is currently in production with a Kickstarter of its own and asking for $100,000 to fund a Blu-ray release of the first two episodes of the OVA. Currently, 39 days remain with the project over halfway funded.

Author’s take: I don’t always support Kickstarters for games, but Frontwing has proven that these crowdfunding opportunities aren’t necessary to fund the game’s release, but instead to give western fans the option of physical goods. After each Kickstarter, the studio has delivered on their promises, which can’t be said for all crowdfunded titles.
