2D Metroidvania ‘Grim Guardians: Demon Purge’ Reveals Opening Movie

Developer Inti Creates has shared the opening movie for their upcoming 2D metroidvania title, Grim Guardians: Demon Purge. Several eye-catching visuals are showcased alongside a catchy vocal track. English-subtitled closed captions are also provided.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge tells the story of two demon hunters named Shinobu Kamizono and Maya Kamizono, who rise to challenge the demon castle that appeared where their school used to be. During gameplay, players will switch between the two characters on the fly to access their unique abilities. This mechanic is crucial for taking on platforming sections and boss encounters.

Fans of Inti Creates will know these characters as the stars of Gal*Gun: Double Peace. Additionally, enemies from the series will also appear in this new title.

Further, the game features a 2-players co-op mode where fans can play simultaneously. There are also various difficulty options via the “Style System,” but players can still expect a challenge regardless. The game mirrors classic Castlevania entries.

Regarding characters, Shinobu Kamizono utilizes long-ranged attacks, while Maya Kamizono is a close-ranged brawler. Players will need to consider the situation when choosing which sister to control as they make their way through the castle, investigating the mystery of what happened to their school and its students.
