Grim Guardians: Demon Purge Reveals 14 Minutes of New Gameplay; Steam Page & Wishlisting Live, New Screenshots

Inti Creates recently hosted a Japanese livestream for their previously announced Metroidvania title, Grim Guardians: Demon Purge. Throughout this event, the game was re-introduced alongside the announcement trailer, with character profiles and comments from the staff.

However, roughly 14 minutes of new gameplay was most notably showcased, and the staff made the title’s Steam store page public during the broadcast. Prospective players can now wishlist Grim Guardians: Demon Purge, too.

Regarding development, nothing is specifically stated about the ongoing progress except that the team should be hearing back from the Japanese rating board, CERO, soon. They aren’t sure what rating the game will receive, but there was some joking banter about it potentially getting a CERO D (17+ rating).

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge tells the story of two demon hunters named Shinobu Kamizono and Maya Kamizono, who rise up to challenge the demon castle that appeared where their school used to be. During gameplay, players will switch between the two characters on the fly to access their unique abilities. This mechanic is crucial for taking on platforming sections and boss encounters.

Fans of Inti Creates will know these characters as the stars of Gal*Gun: Double Peace. Additionally, enemies from the series will also appear in this new title.

Further, the game features a 2-players co-op mode where players can play simultaneously. There are also various difficulty options called the “Style System,” but players can expect a challenge for veteran players. The game mirrors classic Castlevania entries.

In terms of characters, Shinobu Kamizono utilizes long-ranged attacks, while Maya Kamizono is a close-ranged brawler. Players will need to consider the situation when choosing which sister to control as they make their way through the castle, investigating the mystery of what happened to their school and its students.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge is launching for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam at a currently unknown date.
