Gravity Rush Movie Announced

Entertainment outlet Deadline has exclusively announced that PlayStation Productions and Scott Free Productions are producing a film based on the cult-classic action-adventure title, Gravity Rush. Anna Mastro will direct the movie, and Emily Jerome will be penning the script. However, no other details have surfaced. We will provide more updates when more information arises.

Here’s hoping the film ends up being animated and not live-action since, while I am not strictly against the latter, a vast degree of Gravity Rush’s charm lies in its unique presentation. The sheer potential for a full-length Gravity Rush movie with an art style that at least remotely resembles its source material is quite enticing.

Still, I must also admit that it’s odd to see this IP receive theatrical treatment because Sony has seemingly ditched it. Regardless, I’m excited to hear new details.

Gravity Rush is a series that centers around the protagonist Kat, an endearing girl who has the ability to control gravity. The games boast inventive exploration, puzzle design, cutscene presentation, and more. They’re both currently available for PlayStation 4, though the series roots lay in the PlayStation Vita.

To commemorate the Gravity Rush franchise’s 10-year anniversary, the fansite Gravity Rush Central interviewed the director of both entries, Keiichiro Toyama, earlier this year.

Gravity Rush 2 recently received a 60 FPS patch from a fan.
