Cygames has announced that online functionality for Granblue Fantasy: Versus will be significantly reduced starting April 20, 2026. The change places the game into a maintenance-style state, limiting several online features while keeping most offline content playable. The developer also confirmed that support for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising will continue. In case you missed it, check out our review.
While the original Granblue Fantasy: Versus moves into this reduced-support state, Cygames confirmed that Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising continues to receive updates and support, including offline events.
The server downscaling is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. PT on April 20, 2026. After that point, ranked matches, the online lobby, rankings, and replay uploads and downloads will no longer be available. Ranked Match will still appear in the menu but will function as Casual Match instead.
Most offline and local content will remain accessible. RPG Mode (solo play), Versus Mode, Arcade Mode, Training, Mission Training, and Room Matches will continue to work. Players can still create and search for rooms, but rank progression, replay saving, and viewing other players’ profiles will be disabled. Journal features like the Gallery and Glossary will also remain available, along with basic option settings in the Customize menu.
Several online-related features will be removed entirely once the downscaling goes live. These include replay uploads and downloads, ranked matchmaking, the online lobby, rankings, and player profile editing. In-game announcements and banners will display as if the game is in maintenance mode, though some leftover ranked match text may still appear.
Cygames also addressed bonus serial codes tied to the original Granblue Fantasy. After March 31, 2026, at 8 a.m. PT, the Serial Codes menu option will be removed from Granblue Fantasy: Versus. Players who have not redeemed their codes are encouraged to save them before that date. Redemption will still be possible afterward.
The changes will also impact trophy completion. Three trophies will become unobtainable due to the removal of online tracking: Now the Real Fight Begins!, Hot Enough for You?, and Platinum Sky. Any trophies earned before the server downscaling will remain unlocked.
