Granblue Fantasy: Relink Development Nearing Completion, More News August, Ferry Introduced & More Gameplay Details

During Anime Expo 2023, Cygames revealed more gameplay details for their upcoming action JRPG Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Firstly, the team clarified that while this title’s storyline fits into the original game, this is a standalone entry that newcomers to the IP could still enjoy.

Additionally, they’re working on making Relink a complete package by launch, with a story that “wraps up nicely.” Future support is also planned, “including epic battles and all the surrounding content,” for those who want to get the most out of the experience.

During combat, you won’t be able to change the character you’re controlling, but you can swap on the field. As a result, you’ll need to prep up beforehand, and save points will allow players to restock items and upgrade equipment.

Regarding development, it’s in its final stages, with bugs currently being remedied. More news is planned to arrive in August.

The following party members have been confirmed for the early stages of the game, and “you’ll be able to change between Gran/Djeeta freely:”

We’ll keep you all updated on the development of Granblue Fantasy: Relink.

Currently, not much is known about the story of Granblue Fantasy: Relink, but it will feature sizeable scall-action RPG scenarios. Players will form parties with memorable characters from the series, but the game will actually take place in a fictional realm not connected. This also means that there’s a chance new characters will be introduced at a later date.

The game will also feature several mechanics meant for those not experienced with the action RPG genre, likely due to the source game material playing out entirely differently. Still, bouts look incredibly fast-paced, so even those of us possessing an abundant history with the genre should have a fun time regardless.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in the Winter of 2023.
