THQ Nordic announced that they will move forward with a Gothic Remake, which the studio released a prototype of recently.
While only a concept, the team wanted to gauge how the community felt about a Gothic remake and the response was overwhelming. Fans seemed to enjoy the idea of a new “old” Gothic title with 98.8% of users in favor of the project.
Over 180,000 players played the prototype teaser, which launched on February 16. The team received over 43,000 answered surveys and over 9,000 Steam reviews. They also went a step further to show all of the data they gathered.
This playable teaser gives players a preview of what the studio is aiming for in this remake. The team also released a short trailer showing what the demo offers.
During the prototype, players can return to the Colony and explore its many offers for around 2 hours of gameplay. Players assume the role of a nameless hero cast out to survive in the world and face tough foes.
More news about the release will appear soon, but for anyone wanting to play this classic RPG with a facelift, it seems you are getting what you want. Currently, players can still play the prototype teaser to get a feel for the game.
