Gearbox Publishing Reveals Godfall as PlayStation 5 Exclusive
During The Game Awards 2019, Gearbox Publishing and Counterplay Games announce a new high fantasy IP, Godfall. And it is launching as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
The trailer features struck down armored knights that have yet to give up on the battle, with other knights picking each other up and giving out pep talks, perhaps implying some co-op. Also, the visuals showed off high-quality lighting and particle effects. But let’s not forget the monolithic structure that is causing a portal to pour out giant multiple headed dragons from the sky.
On their website, Counterplay Games describes Godfall as a “loot-driven action RPG with third-person real-time melee combat that better played with friends.” The game is being written by Hugo Nebula, award winner, an honor that is given by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. The engine of choice for the next generation title is Unreal 4.
Counterplay Games, a California based team that previously worked Duelyst, a free-to-play collectible card game and turn-based strategy hybrid that has been available on Steam since August 2016.
Not only will Godfall be on the upcoming PS5 but also PC. Though curiously, Counterplay Games’ site also says that the game will come to “Next-Gen Consoles.” Last I checked, plural meant more than one.
