While much of GINKA’s story adopts a “slice-of-life” format, it is punctuated by unexpected twists and turns. Discovering the events of five years ago leads to the revelation of dark secrets tied to unfulfilled wishes and deep regrets harbored by the island’s inhabitants. Himeshima is home to a god who grants wishes from the populace once a year during the festival. This ritual requires the priestess to search for the deity’s dwelling place across the water.

One aspect I particularly appreciated was the well-crafted background of the protagonist, which cleverly explained his unique quirks. As a child, he believed he had no future, which drove him to do whatever he could to help others, even if it meant causing trouble for himself. His actions are highly believable, illustrating his growth over time. In contrast, Ginka is a delightful source of innocence and charm. However, as more details emerge about her circumstances, the tragic nature of her existence becomes evident.

The story also features other significant characters, such as the caring teacher Nazuna, the always-laughing Himawari, the nurturing senpai Rin, and the rival-like Souji. Additionally, there’s the enigmatic cat Gonta, a ubiquitous presence on the island who provides valuable assistance during challenging times.
