Visual Novel ‘Ghostpia’ Coming to Switch and PC Later This Year; New Trailer Introduces Characters
PQube announced they will publish the Chosuido-developed visual novel ghostpia on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in 2023.
The publisher shared a new trailer highlighting the game’s characters and introducing the chill lo-fi beat music that will be prominent in the story. This will be Season One of the overall story.
ghostpia follows Sayaoko, the foreigner in town who share a room with a girl named Yoru but desperately wants to go home. One day, she crosses a snowy desert in search of her home but can’t find it; all she can do is dream.
ghostpia is a kinetic visual novel with no branching paths. Players will find that the entire game is animated, which heightens the visual novel experience. This also puts an emphasis on the more emotional moments in the story. The entire game has a lo-fi soundtrack that is meant to be chilled with .
The publisher shared that the game will be pretty emotional as it focuses on the afterlife and friendship. The game was initially released for web browsers and mobile devices in Japan but is coming west for the first time later this year. This version has been updated with new music, higher resolution illustrating, and new animations.
