Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Haunting Consoles in Q4
Illfonic has announced Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game that lets players be both the Ghostbusters and, for the first time, the ghosts.
As Ghostbusters, players will speak with and get missions from one of the iconic Ghostbusters themselves, Winston Zeddemore (voiced by Ernie Hudson,) and meet other old favorites like Ray Stantz. As a ghost, players can teleport and possess items to freak out or sneak around pesky Ghostbusters. Spirits Unleashed will feature cross-platform multiplayer, so fans across all platforms will be able to hunt or haunt together.
Developer Illfonic has quite a bit of experience with games like this, as they were the studio behind Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds; both of which were also asymmetrical multiplayer titles.
Charles Brungardt, CEO at IllFonic, commented on the announcement: “Ghostbusters is one of the most beloved IPs in the world, so we are pulling out all the stops to make something special and accessible to this diverse fanbase. If you’re someone who loves the movies or asymmetrical multiplayer games, this was made for you.”
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is currently set to release in Q4 of 2022 (October-December,) and it’ll be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through the Epic Games Store. We’ll keep you updated on all the latest Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed news as we get closer to release.
