FromSoftware’s upcoming game Elden Ring is a legendary collaboration between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin, the author behind A Song of Ice and Fire. Today, Martin shed some light on his contributions and thoughts on this soon-to-be-released project.
Martin begins by recollecting how Miyazaki and his team reached out to him many years ago to collaborate on “the backstory and history of a new game they were working on.” He explains that video games aren’t really his thing, but he also admits that this offer was too good to refuse, considering the groundbreaking impact Miyazaki and his team were making in the video game industry.
“I love creating worlds and writing imaginary history,” says Martin, as he was tasked to do some world-building to serve as the foundation of which Elden Ring would be based on.
As a closing remark, Martin thinks Elden Ring “looks incredible,” sharing much of the enthusiasm and excitement of all the fans. Read more about what George R.R. Martin feels about Elden Ring on his official blog.
Elden Ring will be releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on February 25, 2022. If you missed it, check out our impressions of the Elden Ring Closed Network Test here.
